About Linnie Greene
Linnie Greene invests each composition with added life and nuance through a delicate and painstaking handcoloring process. Working from black and white photos, Greene creates a one-of-a-kind, original, archival, painted photograph using oils and other photo safe applications. From a full print, Greene applies a range of complementary colors to select focal points, conveying latent emotion and depth which casts a magical ethereal spell over her images. Her photo-graphic subjects take in her travels, acquaintances, and enthusiasms, each emboldened with painterly precision. Whether a person or an object, Greene’s subjects become striking and familiar through this unique, artistic treatment.
Greene, of Baltimore, Maryland, has served as a demonstrating artist for Marshall Oils and led several handcoloring workshops. Her pieces have been featured in Art and Antiques Magazine, on HBO The Wire, at the Greco Art Gallery, School 33 Art Center, the Creative Alliance, The Interval Gallery, Artist & Framers Gallery, Lucinda Gallery, Sassafras Gallery, Nichiban restaurant (a hub for local artists), OXOXO Gallery, Sartori Gallery, The Baltimore Gallery, Strictly Be’More Gallery, Polaroid Gallery, and the Saintonge Gallery, MT.
Greene offers original, archival, custom printed selections from her library as well as professional photographic services that include: restoration of old photographs, custom hand printing, digital printing, alternative photo processes, matting and framing, and custom handcoloring of your black and white photographs. Greene specializes in environmental portraiture, travel, city icons, cityscapes, and landscapes. Greene has created a line of assorted note cards depicting Baltimore icons. Custom note cards are also available.
